Clinical efficacy analysis of lumboperitoneal shunt in the treatment of communicating hydrocephalus

Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the clinical efficacy of lumboperitoneal shunt (LPS) in the treatment of communicating hydrocephalus.

Methods

The clinical data of 32 patients with communicating hydrocephalus who underwent LPS surgery in the Neurotramasurgery Department of the First Hospital of Jilin University from August 2018 to August 2021 were selected. The general conditions before and after operation, postoperative imaging examination and clinical manifestations were observed, and the clinical efficacy of LPS in the treatment of communicating hydrocephalus was analyzed.

Results

The postoperative GCS score and KPS score of 32 patients were higher than the preoperative scores, and Evan's index was lower than the preoperative scores, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The prognosis of Salmon was improved in 23 patients (71.88%), and there was no change or deterioration of symptoms in 9 patients (28.12%).

Conclusion

LPS is an effective surgery as a treatment of communicating hydrocephalus without occlusive diseases in the spinal canal.
