Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the clinical prognosis and recurrence rate in patients with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH).

Methods

Retrospect the clinical data of 117 CSDH patients in the Department of Neurosurgery, People’s Hospital of the Qingdao West Coast New Area from June 2012 to December 2017, according to the general information, CT findings, hematoma size and operative methods to analyze the prognostic factors of CSDH.

Results

In this study, 117 patients were followed up for 3 months on average and 13 patients’ hematoma recurred. Univariate analysis showed that there was significant difference in age, preoperative CT classification and hematoma volume (P<0.05), but no significant difference in surgery (P>0.05), Multivariate Logistics regression analysis showed that age, preoperative CT imaging and hematoma volume were associated with recurrence of hematoma.

Conclusion

CT typing can be used as an important indicator of CSDH operation and prognosis. The recurrence rate of hematoma is reduced according to the preoperative CT signs and the optimal treatment plan of the patients’ condition.

Key words: Chronic subdural hematoma, Drilling and drainage, Craniotomy hematoma removal
