Application of perspective virtual reality technology in neural interventional therapy for micro-catheter molding

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect and the application of perspective virtual reality technology in neural interventional therapy for micro-catheter molding.

Methods

Sixty patients with posterior communicating unruptured artery aneurysms who were treated with endovascular treatment were admitted to our hospital from July 2015 to July 2017. All cases were randomly divided into new technology group (30 cases) and traditional group (30 cases). All the aneurysms were found by routine CTA examination before operation. According to the imaging results of head and neck CTA, the 4D images were reconstructed by virtual reality technology, and the direction of the aneurysm and the parent’s artery was showed directly. New technology group use VR to guide the micro-catheter fit the aneurysms. Traditional group is traditional interventional therapy. Comparison of the length of operation time and the incidence of complications in the two groups.

Results

Sixty posterior communicating artery aneurysms were successfully embolized. New rechnology group was to be with perspective virtual reality technology, and only one postoperative complications occurred. Five postoperative complications occurred in traditional group, The operation time in new technology group is (39.700±2.583) min, and the time in traditional group is (55.800±1.671) min, the difference between the two is significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion

Using perspective virtual technology to shape the micro-catheter not only shortens the time of conventional intervention surgery, but also improves the controllability and safety of the operation by using virtual technology to evaluate the aneurysm neck opening, angle and the stenosis of the parent artery before the intervention surgery.
