A pilot study of three-dimensional printing on minimally invasive puncture drainage of traumatic intracerebral hematoma

Abstract:

Objective

Through 3D printing prints out the facial features in patients with puncture channel model, which used for preoperative localization, intraoperative guided puncture direction to simplify the procedure and improve the traumatic intracranial hematoma puncture accuracy.

Methods

With a 25-year-old man traumatic brain hematoma craniocerebral CT two-dimensional image for the raw data,we use Mimics 16.0 software processing to form a 3D image reconstruction, to design the puncture channel and measure the puncture depth, then use 3D printer to print out the model with extracranial needle channel. We use the model to locate the area before the operation,to guide puncture direction and control puncture depth when doing operation. Review of the craniocerebral CT after the operation to observe the position of the drainage tube end.

Results

Using the computer software design with a needle hole "mask" can rotate in 3D space, observed from various angles, to avoid the important blood vessel and functional areas, and achieving puncture.

Conclusion

Successfully build three-dimensional images conforming to the individual patient characteristics, and then print out the model used in surgery by 3D printer.In this way,puncture accuracy can be improved, and the operation difficulty can be reduced.
