Analysis of clinical features of ventriculo-petitoneal shunt of 22 cases of obese patients with hydrocephalus

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the clinical effects of VPS on the treatment to hydrocephalus in obese patients.

Methods

Twenty-two cases of hydrocephalus in children treated by VPS between 2012 and 2014 in the First Hospital of Jilin University are retrospectively analyzed.

Results

All the cases underwent successful surgerys and got access to uneventful recovery with no infection and blockage of shunt valve during hospitalization.

Conclusion

Our novel approach may significantly reduce the risk of malfunction complications in the obese patients.
