Surgical treatment of epidural hematoma straddling transverse sinus in children

Objective

To explore the method and effect of surgical treatment of epidural hematoma straddling transverse sinus in Children.

Methods

The clinical data of 22 cases of children with surgical treatment of epidural hematoma straddling transverse sinus from January 2013 to September 2016 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.

Results

All patients underwent surgical treatment, and preoperative omitting were relieved during 3 d postoperatively in 18 cases. Preoperative coma occurred in 1 case and the patient was awake after 2 d postoperatively. Postoperative head CT scan showed that hematoma was nearly all removed, no secondary bleeding in the operation area. 22 patients were successfully followed up for three months and all of them return to normal activities without conscious disorder and the incision healed well after operation.

Conclusion

Children who have surgical indications of epidural hematoma straddling transverse sinus were treated timely with surgical treatment, which could achieve satisfactory results.
