Advancement in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of spontaneous internal carotid cavernous fistula

Abstract:

Carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) is a rare cerebrovascular disease in clinic, most of which are caused by traumatic factors. The onset of spontaneous CCF is dim and clinical symptoms are not obvious, easily resulting in mistaken and missed diagnosis. The diagnosis and treatment of spontaneous CCF is mainly based on clinical experience, lacking of normative guidelines. In recent years, with the increasing number of spontaneous CCF cases, we reviewed experience of the clinical diagnosis and treatment of spontaneous CCF based on the comprehensive case report analysis.
